Well, in a nutshell, Splice Sounds is a great go-to platform for finding samples for various purposes. It is clearly one of the best sites for samples and loops out there and there are lots of reasons why this platform has become the most popular of all. Also, the web application is pretty nice and the integration of the desktop app works pretty well, especially when we compare it to other samples sites like Landr, or Loopmasters.

If there’s one thing I really like about Splice Sounds is its mobile app. I mean, it’s just fun – you get into the app and search for cool sounds that you might use later on in order to create a track. And in terms of the design and functionality, the app is just great.

Basically, you might find yourself spending hours with this app looking for the next sample you’ll use. You can choose packs, genres, or instruments. The only problem, in my view, is that you cannot set the scale nor the BPM when you search for samples on the mobile app.

Splice Sounds – How to start?

First of all, making music with samples is not that easy as it seems to be at a first glance. There’s are so many other things you need to learn before you actually create a good sound. But, you have to start somewhere, and it seems that Splice might be a good place to start. After all, all of the samples are royalty-free, meaning you can use them for commercial purposes.

But the process with Splice Sounds is fairly simple. All you need to do is register and choose s plan and download the Splice desktop app. From there, you can simply drag the samples to your DAW and make a track. In that sense, the Splice desktop app is just a great feature.

There are three plans on Splice – Sounds+, Creator, and Creator+. To be honest, it seems like the main difference among the various plans is the number of credits you get so it all depends on how many samples you think you are going to use. Obviously, if you know how to your DAW plugins to make sounds, then you might not need more than the basic plan of 100 credits.

Splice Sounds vs Landr

One of Splice Sounds biggest competitors is Landr, which is an online platform where you can get access to lots of tools like AI mastering, online web-based music software, plugins, etc. Additionally, Landr also offers a huge library of samples across various genres. But, the bottom line both platforms are pretty similar in nature so the only question that remains is which one is better – Splice Sounds or Landr?

So, personally, for a very long time, I was certain that Splice is much better than Landr. This is because I had an account with Landr two years ago and at the time, I thought the samples are not that good. However, quite recently, I renew my Landr account, and to be honest, Landr seems to be the better platform of the two if you are looking for more sophisticated loops and melodies. And from my experience, this is particularly the case if you plan on making chill lofi beats, jazz beats, etc.

Essentially, it removes the need to buy sample packs online that typically cost around $20-$70 per pack. Obviously, there are some cons to using Splice, and, you might have to search a bit on Reddit and other forums to find out if Splice is good for the music genre you want to focus on. But, the bottom line, if you are a music producer or just want to have fun with music samples, then yes, Splice Sounds is probably a must-have subscription.
