How to Book Flights with Cryptocurrencies

Digital assets are slowly but surely moving towards becoming an accepted payment method. Huge global companies like Microsoft, PayPal, Etsy, Starbucks, and Home Depot – are some of the marketplaces where you can use your Bitcoin and other popular altcoins. And now, if you own other altcoins, you can use them to book a flight and hotel. Here, we’ll show you how to do that.

How to Book a Flight with Cryptocurrencies

As of 2024, the best option to book flights with cryptocurrencies is via Alternative Airlines, a booking platform that accepts Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a payment method. On its platform, Alternative Airlines allows users to pay for flights with more than 100 cryptocurrencies and over 600 global airlines. This is done by using one of the platform’s payment providers xMoney, Crypto.com, CoinGate, or Binance. Among the accepted cryptos on Alternative Airlines, you can find such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, DASH, Ripple, Litecoin, BNB, Dogecoin, and many more. So, how does it work? Pretty much the same as using any other flight booking platform. If you own one of the coins above, simply follow the steps below:
  1. Open an account with a payment provider that support your local fiat currency – XMoney, Crypto.com, CoinGate, etc.
  2. Go to Alternative Airlines and plan your trip. This process works similarly to any other flight booking service.
  3. Choose and approve your trip details.
  4. In the last step, the payment, choose cryptocurrencies as your preferred payment method. Tick the box and click continue to payment.
  5. Next, choose the cryptocurrency you wish to use to pay for your trip. For our demonstration, we choose Bitcoin.
  6. Now, once you click on the Continue to Payment button, you’ll be transerred to a page that funnels you to your payment provider. From there, you can complete the purchase, and voila, you just booked a flight with cryptocurrencies.

Other Methods to Book a Flight with Cryptocurrencies

Besides Alternative Airlines, there are other methods to book flights with cryptocurrencies. One method is by using BitPay, a crypto payment service that allows you  to buy gift cards and use your crypto money for any other vendor that accept gift cards. In that sense, BitPay is an easier platform to use for booking flights with cryptos than Alternative Airlines. With BitPay, you can use any airline you’d like, as long as the airline accepts Mastercard. Other options for booking flights with cryptocurrencies include Travala.com, Bitrefill, and Bitcoin.Travel.
